Our Story

Hi I’m Molly, mum to two daughters and a dog, wife of a fireman (lucky me), a self-certified candy addict and lover of a good laugh, AND the founder of Sweet Disorder.

In 2018, after working in corporate retail for over 20 years, I started to feel I needed a change, I had always loved my career but now the passion had died! Maybe I was having a minor mid-life crisis? I had no idea what I wanted to do but I knew if I didn’t make the change now it would probably never happen.

So, after convincing my husband I handed in my notice, said goodbye to the rush hour traffic, goodbye to all the meetings, goodbye to the regular paycheck (that was very scary) and hello to my new dream, whatever it was to be. I had a three month notice period to decide what my next adventure would be and to start earning some money.

I gave myself the title of Chief Dream Officer and over the next month I filled a notebook with what I loved, what I hated, and what I ideally wanted my future life to be like, the candy addiction and loving a good laugh was obviously high priority :) I also new I wanted to have more control over my life, more time to be with my family and ideally get myself to a position where if I needed to get to the UK to spend time with my elderly parents I could.

Chatting to friends and family we all agreed that life was feeling quite stressful and serious and we could all do with a dash more fun. I believe the saying “Laughter is the best Medicine”, so I donned my fancy dress doctors labcoat (which always makes me feel more intelligent) and the Sweet Disorder range of remedies were created.

Sweet Disorder is now stocked in shops all across New Zealand and has certainly brought a dash of fun and a sprinkle of happiness to 1000s of lives.

Getting back to the UK to spend time with parents hasn’t happened yet, but I’m still working on it :)

In 2023 we also opened our own retail store in Silverdale, stocking our whole range of remedies and more, so if your ever in the area and fancy a sweet treat (we always have tasters available) please pop in to check us out.
